Your key, your account
Paste one in and questions go to the cloud model behind it. SmartTutor tutors on Sarvam's model, which is built for Indian languages. You pay Sarvam directly for what you use, and nothing passes through us.
Two payments, and both are yours: the licence for the app, and the AI you use. We do not pay for the model, so we never have to recover that cost — which is why there is no cap on how much you ask it.

Privacy
Your child's homework is not a training set.
Every free tutor on the internet is paid for with your child's data. SmartTutor is paid for with money, so it does not need theirs. There is no account, no sync and no upload of their work, which means their questions and their mistakes never reach us in the first place.
You buy the car; you buy the diesel. That is the whole model. We sell the software, you pay your own AI bill directly — so there is no usage cap, and nothing worth watching. Nobody monitors where you drive.

No account, ever No sign-in, no password. We keep the email address you give at checkout — and the school's name on an institution licence. That is your identity with us: how your licence reaches you, and how we find you again if it is lost. Nothing else, and never shared.

Nothing is uploaded to us Textbooks, chat history and profiles are written to your disk, not ours. There is no upload step and no sync, so there is nothing for us to sell, leak or learn from.

What does leave, and why When the tutor answers, it sends what it needs in order to help — the question, any homework text, the subject and chapter, and the chapter’s textbook content — to the AI service behind your own key. No name, no email address and no location goes with it.

Your key, your terms Questions go to the provider behind your own AI key, under your account and your agreement with them — not through a server of ours. Remove the key and they stop going anywhere.
The one exception: a school machine sends an anonymous ping on activation and renewal so the school can count how many of its seats are in use. It carries no student data.

An internet connection and a Sarvam API key.
SmartTutor runs on Sarvam's model, so a Sarvam key is required. It is pasted in once and stays on the machine. You pay Sarvam directly for what you use; we hold no usage data and add no markup.
A free Cloudflare Workers AI key is added alongside it, so the tutor keeps answering when Sarvam is slow or unreachable. The Cloudflare key is free, and its own terms apply to it.
