Questions, answered

If none of this covers it, write to us at hello@mirsolutions.in and include your Machine ID.

Where do I find my Machine ID?

Open SmartTutor and go to the licence screen, where it is shown on first run and again when the free trial ends. It is unique to that computer, so a licence bought for one Machine ID will not work on another.

I paid but I did not get a code.

The code is emailed the moment the payment clears, so check your spam folder first. Payments can take a minute to confirm. If nothing has arrived, open the checkout page, go to “Lost code or new PC” and enter the email address you paid with — the code is sent to that address again.

I lost my licence code.

Nothing is lost. Go to “Lost code or new PC” at checkout, enter the email address you bought with, and the current code is emailed to that address again. The code is derived from your subscription, so it is always recoverable. It is sent only to the address on the purchase, so a school’s master code cannot be collected by anyone else.

I am replacing my computer. Can I move my licence?

Yes. Email hello@mirsolutions.in from the address you bought with and send both the old and the new Machine ID. The remaining time moves across, the old machine's code stops working, and the new code comes back by email. It is done by hand so that nobody else can do it to your licence.

Does SmartTutor need an internet connection?

Yes. The version sold here is the online one: questions go to the cloud model behind your own Sarvam key, and that needs a working connection.

There is also an offline edition, and it is still experimental. It runs entirely on the machine — the AI models live on the computer, so it needs no connection at any point, and even the questions never leave the machine. It answers in the same Indian languages as the online edition, from a smaller model kept on the machine. It was built for schools and homes where there is no usable connection, and it is the one we are least finished with: it is being tested with a small number of schools, its answers are not yet as good as the online model, and it will change as we work on it.

It is not sold from this site. It is handed over on request, by us, and only where it fits — write to hello@mirsolutions.in, tell us where it would be used, and we will tell you honestly what it can and cannot do yet.

The licence works the same either way: it is checked on the machine itself, so SmartTutor never has to phone home to confirm you have paid.

Do I need my own Sarvam API key?

Yes, for the version sold here. SmartTutor tutors on Sarvam's model, chosen for Indian languages, so a Sarvam key is required. Paste it into the licence screen and questions go to Sarvam behind it. The key is yours: you pay Sarvam directly for what you use, we hold no usage and add no markup, and you can replace it at any point without losing anything.

A free Cloudflare Workers AI key is added alongside it, so the tutor keeps answering when Sarvam is slow or unreachable.

The build that needs no keys and no connection is available on request only, and is still experimental; see the question about internet above.

Is there a free trial?

Thirty days, every feature, no card and no account. The Machine ID you need for checkout appears on the licence screen when the trial ends.

Can I set up automatic renewal?

Yes. At checkout, choose Autopay instead of Pay once and the subscription renews itself each month or year until you cancel it. Paying once is still the default, so nothing renews unless you ask it to.

What data does SmartTutor collect?

None. There is no account, no tracking and no usage reporting. Textbooks, chat history and profiles are stored on the machine; questions go to Sarvam behind your own key and never through a server of ours.

Beyond that, the only other thing that leaves a machine is a single anonymous activation ping on school licences, so the school can count how many of its seats are in use. It contains no student data and nothing that identifies the machine.

How does school licensing work?

A school buys a number of machines and receives one institution code. Every machine uses that same code, so there is nothing to distribute per student. The code reports back how many machines have activated it, so administrators can see usage against what they bought.

What happens when my subscription expires?

SmartTutor stops unlocking until a new code is entered. Renewing extends from your existing expiry date, so paying early never costs you days.

How do I get an invoice?

Write to hello@mirsolutions.in with your Machine ID or school name and we will send a GST invoice.
